Long description:
The objective of our study was to evaluate the quality EEs, with the aim of correcting our practices and improving their reliability. It is a retrospective study of all the EEs performed in the ACP of the CHU Mohamed Taher Mâamouri of Nabeul during two years (2016-2017). We evaluated the conditions of the EEs (State of the premises, equipment) and the different phases (pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical). These were 497 EAs, which involved 22 sites (Thyroid (n=214;43.1%), Breast (n=106;21.3%), Ganglia (n=57;11.5%)...). EE response was delayed in 113 cases (22.7%) of which 76% were thyroidectomy parts. EE and DE were concordant in 94.5% of cases (n=363, Kappa = 0.87) and discordant in 5.5% of cases (n=21).All discordant cases were false negatives (n=21; 100%) and were due in 76.2% of cases to sampling failure (n=16). The average response time was 25 minutes. The premises and equipment were generally in conformity with international standards, except for the absence of certain personal protective equipment and the lack of transcription of certain procedures, known verbally.
